In my painting, I usually start with a real or mental place that has a particular significance to me. Then I scrape down unnecessary details searching for the essential true feeling.

In this case, the inspiration comes from a place called Passo del Fréjus. The Fréjus Road Tunnel is a tunnel that connects France and Italy. It runs under Col du Fréjus in the Cottian Alps between Modane in France and Bardonecchia. With my family, we drive through the Frejus tunnel many times to reach the Italian riviera. I found the landscape and the mountains breathtaking. I particularly like the way the weather quickly changes in the mountains with spectacular summer storms and stormy skies.
