This painting was inspired by a view of lough Neagh in Northern Ireland.

What attracts me to this image is the energetic but at the same time ethereal atmosphere. The overall tone is warm with accents of contrasting cerulean and soft light.

I usually start with a real or mental place that has a particular significance to me. Then I scrape down unnecessary details searching for the essential true feeling.

The fleeting light, seasons, the flow of time, and ageing are strong influences in my work.
