This project aimed to create an artistic intervention between public and private residential spaces, incorporating newly erected Alley Gates and providing an artwork for walkers along the Lagan towpath and residents alike.
Artist Daniela Balmaverde conducted workshops with a range of young age groups at Shaftesbury Leisure Centre in Belfast, Northen Ireland. The Housing Executive built the new wall to support the new alley gate, which has been installed by Belfast City Council.
The finished installation of three sculptured brick panels, developed from ideas arising from the workshops is inspired by the River Lagan and the towpath. It also incoporates clay tiles that the children worked on.
