Lower Ormeau Road (2010)

The aim of this commission, developed from initial consultations, was to create a cross-community piece of art that would develop new connections between different communities in the area of Ormeau Bridge/Embankment. It celebrate diversity and new opportunities in the area of the lower Ormeau Road. By creating a positive and iconic piece of public art it define the gateway to the Ormeau Road area and link this area with the City Centre.

In meetings with representatives from the local communities it was agreed to create two pieces of art. The larger art work is located on the Ormeau Road between the towpath and Dromara Street. The smaller art piece is installed on the other side of the bridge on the grounds of the public library.
